The day arrived, February 12th 2013, the induction started at 3pm. They put this gel on what I can only describe as a shoelace and placed it up my Minnie Moo! Nanny Chris and Daddy were with me the whole time they even stayed overnight waiting for you to be born.
By 3am on the 13th feb, I woke because my contractions had started, at 9pm the Dr came in and asked us to monitor how far apart the contractions were. So we decided to go downstairs to the restaurant for breakfast, I had a lovely full English breakfast, but the whole time I sat there I was in pain with my contractions. When we got back upstairs I went for a shower to ease the pain off and have a good wash. They gave me these knee high socks to stop blood clots for when your laying down for ages, very attractive! Hehe.
They attached me to a machine that monitors my contractions for me so they could see what was going on. It came to lunch time, I got up to accompany nanny and daddy to the restaurant for dinner but as I tried to walk my contractions got worse. I decided to wait up here whilst they got my food, by the time they'd returned I was bent over my bed in a lot of pain, so daddy asked the nurse for some gas and air to relieve the pain, she soon came but with paracetamol for me! Paracetamol was useless during labour.
It took hours for them to finally bring me the gas and air, and within seconds of having it I was out of this world haha.
Nanny took me for another shower to which she was worried I was gonna have you in the shower as I was contracting so much!
At 3pm they came to break my waters, I never thought it would be as painful as it was! I even cried because it hurt that much, the whole way through the labour I hadn't complained about the pain once but this was very painful. I had some blood when they broke them so they measured me to find I was already 4cms.
The assumed I had plenty of hours before you would join us in the world. So nanny and daddy moved our stuff from the bay to a private room ready for me
to transfer to give birth. Nanny decided she would go down for a quick smoke seen as they said we had lots of time. Whilst she was down there daddy was made to walk round the ward with me to the private room, every step I took I had a contraction, ouch! When we got there I laid on my side slightly comfy so I thought I'd stay this way for my epidural. Some midwife who I never met before was setting up my sliding scale ready, this was a drip to keep my blood sugars normal so I didn't have a hypo or pass out. Within seconds I told her I needed to push and she told me I couldn't i was only 4 cm. she didn't believe me, so daddy told her I needed to push so she rolled me over to measure me, I was now 9 and a half cms! I was ready to push so I started pushing. On the first push your head was visible and at this moment nanny had come back, just in time! I remember looking at her peering towards my Minnie moo and smiling, was so wierd haha. So I pushed again and out came your head, you was face down so they grabbed you to twist, that was so painful I nearly closed my legs and crushed you, thankfully the nurses grabbed them quick enough. I was drained already so as everyone was telling me to push I was saying I can't do it anymore. But nanny reassured me I could so I done a huge push and out you popped! I looked straight down at you, you was clean as a whistle! Daddy cut your cord so the nurse could clean your nose and mouth out from where you was inside me.
They had left you on your own and walked away from you. My baby girl lonely and I couldn't get to you because I had to push my afterbirth out :( . Nanny asked if she could cuddle you and they said ok so nanny grabbed you and you decided you would do your first pee on her at that time. Hehe. After finally delivering the after birth and making sure I didn't tear I was left alone to hold you myself. I felt so weak that I said I couldn't, I was worried I was going to drop you. But nanny panicked, she thought I was rejecting you after everything I just went through. But I wasn't, I just didn't want to harm you. But nanny placed you in my arms and sat beside me to help support. I was so happy! I wanted to cry because I knew I loved you so much already. You was my life, my pride and joy. From this moment I knew I was gonna protect you for the rest of your life. We text uncle rich to say you had entered the world and he asked if him and uncle will could come see you straight away, they was currently in hospital so was only 10 mins walk from the ward. I gave you back to nanny so I could shower and clean up and get dressed. When I come out uncle rich sat there with you proud as punch that you was here. It was a struggle for him to hold you as he was seriously unwell and close to death but he made sure he held you!
Nanny panda asked if she could come up so she turns up a while after, bringing gifts. We all sat in the labour room till nearly midnight because your blood sugars needed to be tested and be low but they were high. We were told to feed you every hour because of this and test your blood every hour, you was so brave when I pricked our foot, didn't complain.
We got moved to the maternity ward and your nannies had to then leave us as was only me and daddy allowed to stay. Daddy walked them outside and I was left with you for the first time, I sat there looking at you, you was looking straight back at me and I was smiling from ear to ear. I was happy. I finally had you here.
From being 4 cms it took just 1 hour and 19 minutes before you was out.
You were born on 13th feb 2013 at 4.19pm weighing 6lb 13oz.
Perfect!
